‘Ode’ to the action genre. This franchise is renowned for quality action so expectations were high and excitement was pulsing as we headed off to the most anticipated action movie of the year. So did it live up to the expectations set by the prior trilogy? I’m not convinced.
However this is definitely a film all Indiana Jones fans need to see – and there were some fabulous and intense actions scenes, but was it better than the first three?
It’s obvious they are setting us up for more, but I have to say (this is going to shock many out there), I didn’t leave the cinema feeling fully satisfied. I felt the ending let the rest of the movie down.
Somehow it kinda lost its way… It left the path of the archaeologist and stepped over into the land of ‘too weird’ in a bad way, for an ‘Indy’ flick. Did anyone else think that?
Am I being too tough? Maybe, most will enjoy and this was a good film. But it had potential to be a wow (9/10) and for me it was only a 7.
Steph’s rating: 7/10

Have to agree with ya Steph. While a must see for any Indy fan, and some real great action throughout the movie, it personally did not give the WOW factor at the end of the movie. My favourite is still the Last Crusade -in part due to the Ford/Connery chemistry. Overall Rating: 7/10. Looks like they may now do an Indy 5. Watch this space!
I just got back from the theater – yes! I finally got to go out to the movies! – I liked it. I think it was exactly what I wanted it to be. And I’m anticipating the next installment.
I do agree that ‘The Last Crusade’ was still the best of the series – for the same reason you do.
Cassius says : I absolutely agree with this !
Kerry says : I absolutely agree with this !
We were a little disappointed also. Was really looking forward to seeing it but it didn’t really seem to be complete. Still worth seeing though – Tony’s a real Indy fan and couldn’t wait too see it – esp. after we’d just come back from the Indy ride at Disneyland !!
We were also disappointed by the latest Indy film. Who can survive a nuclear blast in a fridge?! Too many dodgy George Lucas moments (Indy Jnr swinging through the trees with monkeys). The clues to the crystal skull were clumsy and some of the dialogue flat. Got to admit I nodded off at the end! Give it a 5/10.
